Discover Östra Södermalm's fascinating industrial history by joining us on a walk arranged by Guiding Stanley Rutgersson AB. From an ancient stove bread factory to unique cultural reserves and old textile manufactures, we will explore areas where industries ruled from the end of the 17th century until the first half of the 20th century. Many of the original buildings still stand, and we'll be showing lots of pictures that bring these places to life.
The walk takes you past Hammarby lake, which was lowered just under 5 m after the opening of the Danvik Canal in 1929, and where the a Hammarby port activities declined sharply in the early 1990s. We will also hear the story of a former candle factory and its founder, as well as learning about one of Stockholm's oldest shipyards and other interesting places along the way, before ending the tour at Fjällgatan.

The company started in 2019 by Stanley Rutgersson a qualified tourist guide for Stockholm in English and Swedish and member of FSAG (Association of Stockholm’s Authorized Guides). We have received the Scandinavian Business Award two years in a row: City Tour Guide of the Year 2023 and Walking Tour Operator of the Year 2024.
Stanley has a deep interest of Stockholm history, and has specific knowledge about the industrial history from mid 1600 to mid 1900.
The company has been working for the larger DMC companies, mainly by welcoming tourists arriving by Cruise ships, and then bring them on a guided panorama bus tour, including visits to museums and tourist attractions, e.g. Vasa museum, City Hall, Royal Palace.
